wings

OMG! I am sitting here enjoying a popsicle because my lips are burning! Saturday we barbequed with our friends and neighbors and I made my hot wing recipe. I must have been mad because they were so hot that hardly anyone could eat more than 4 of them! So here is the recipe:

1 – 24oz bottle of Louisiana Hot Sauce

1 – Bottle of Tabasco

1 – Tablespoon of Garlic Powder

1 – Tablespoon of Ketchup

White Wine Vinegar

5 lbs of Chicken Wings

1. Fry the wings in a cooking oil until crisp and medium brown

2. Drain the wings on paper towels when they come out of the fryer

3. Pout Louisiana Hot Sauce, Tabasco, Garlic and Ketchup into a medium sauce pan and bring to a boil.

4. Reduce to a simmer, add vinegar if needed

5. Put 5 or 6 wings in a container with a lid and add sauce to the container, shake vigorously to cover the wings completely and place in a warming dish in the oven

6. Once all the wings are coated pour remaining of sauce over the top of the wings.

Enjoy the burn!!!!!

Every week I get numerous funny jokes in my inbox. Today I got the idea to share them with everyone ( The clean ones anyway.. )

An 85-year-old man goes for a physical. All of his tests come back
with normal results.
The doctor says, ‘Bob, everything looks great. How are you doing mentally and emotionally?
Are you at peace with God?’
Bob replies, ‘God and I are tight. He knows I have poor eyesight, so
he’s fixed it so when I get up in the middle of the night to go to the
bathroom, poof!, the light goes on. When I’m done, poof!, the light
goes off.’
‘Wow, that’s incredible,’ the doctor says.
A little later in the day, the doctor calls Bob’s wife. ‘ Sandy ,’ he
says, Bob is doing fine! But I had to call you because I’m in awe of
his relationship with God. Is it true that he gets up during the night
and, poof!, the light goes on in the bathroom and when he’s done,
poof!, the light goes off?’
‘Oh my God!’ Sandy exclaims. ‘He’s peeing in the refrigerator again!’

Since “retirement” I am always looking for ways to save money. Here is a quick money saving tip!

At meals switch to using cloth napkins. We have changed to a stain resistant nylon napkin. They are not as absorbent as a paper towel but they do the job at the dinner table. Staging 042

In addition the microwave food cover prevents us from using paper towels to cover food in the microwave. This accomplishes two things. First of all it saves money and trees and secondly it prevents me from cleaning the microwave every week and that is a good thing!

Also you save a considerable amount of money, consider this:

If you buy only 8 rolls of paper towels per month at $14.99 for an average brand such as Bounty then you save almost $100 per year.

The 12 cloth / nylon napkins cost us $24.00 and the microwave cover cost $5.99 So in the first year you save about $60.00 and the savings will accumulate from there!

Now don’t get me wrong we still use some paper towels but our consumption is down from 12 rolls per month to about 2. What a deal!

Just a little savings, but in this economy every little bit means a lot!
