DSC_0020Yesterday Pork Chop decided that he wanted to ride his bike without training wheels. So I went to the garage and got the tools out.

I did a couple of things.

1. Removed the training wheels

2. Tightened up the handle bars

3. Adjusted the seat to the proper height

4. Tightened up the brake lines

After 30 minutes of tools work and adjustment I felt that the bike was worthy of an attempt to ride without training wheels.

We set out on the street and showed Pork Chop how to get on to the bike, how to balance himself and how to put his leg down to support himself.

Then we were off! Of course for 10-15 minutes it was shaky business. He was scared. Wobbly and nervous do not mix well.

Finally after that he took off! Mama and I were running along side him while he rode for support and to help him stop.

He did it! How exciting. I am so proud of him! Within two weeks he should be riding on his own!

The first Friday that the Camaro arrived, Mama and I met our neighbors at a Mid-Town Houston restaurant for dinner.

All of my life I have only owned two new cars. And these new cars were not top of the line models like this one, so never has anyone offered to do anything special for my car.

When we arrived at the restaurant we drove around looking for parking but were unsuccessful so we decided to go ahead and valet the car.

When we pulled up to the valet stand and the valet approached the car. He took a good look at the car.

“Hello Sir. How are you this evening?”, said the Valet.

“Fine.", I said.

“Would you like to have the car parked out front?”, the Valet motioned to a parking spot in front of the restaurant.

Let me tell you that Mama and I were caught off guard. The Valets like to park the expensive, nice cars out front to help the establishments image.

I do not get that in my Nissan Pathfinder : )

All I can say is the Camaro is fantastic, affordable luxury. American muscle. I love it!

I would like to apologize to me readers. I have been creating posts through Microsoft Live Writer since the beginning of my blog. After my last post on the 2nd of March none of my scheduled posts have been posted. Mama brought it to my attention last week. I made the mistake of not going to my site after I wrote the posts.

I have since reinstalled Wordpress and my posts should start arriving again, including the long awaited Camaro series.

Thanks for your patience.

OK. If you read yesterdays post and today’s post you might think I am one of those end-of-the-world-is-coming people. But it just happens that there were two interesting articles : )

Apparently the Chili earthquake shortened days on earth.

After seeing the devastating earthquakes in Chili and Haiti on the news our oldest son asked me a very interesting question this morning.

“Dad, one of my friends at school said that the world is ending because we are having earthquakes. Is that true?”

First of all I do not remember having that sort of conversation in 3rd grade. Secondly, the thought has crossed my mind…

I ran across an interesting article today outlining the differences between the Haiti and Chili quake.

Palisades, New York (CNN) — About six weeks ago, a large earthquake devastated Haiti and killed over 200,000 people. Saturday, a huge earthquake releasing 500 times more energy, devastated Chile and killed hundreds.

So why did the smaller earthquake kill so many more people? And why the sudden spate of disastrous earthquakes in the Americas?

No, the apocalypse is not coming. No, the two earthquakes are not linked in any way. And no, Pat Robertson, you can’t blame the Devil or the French. The real answers, for those comfortable with science and the Enlightenment, are tectonics and poverty.

Enjoy the article here.

Look for my Camaro series to come out later today : )
