Glasses are part of my life as I am sure they are part of many of yours.  Recently while searching for frames I ran into the Zenni website. They have some great frames!

Last year I had a problem with a pair of Oakley’s that just would not stay together and they made my life miserable.

Now I have moved on and ended up with another pair of Oakley’s under their warranty but with the new year I am looking for a new frame. I found these that I thought were quite awesome. The best part is that they are under $50!

Normally I pay $300 for cool frames! I can buy even more Christmas gifts with they money I save on my frames!

If you wear glasses you should browse for eyeglasses here. When you find some you like be sure to comment and let me know which ones you like.

The nice thing about the pricing on the frames is that you can buy several pair and have glasses that go with different outfits, or have some for sports, formal dress or casual looks.

Good frame hunting and Merry Christmas!

Spark Dad is back for the Holidays

First of all thank you to all of you who have read my blog either in person or on Google Reader. I have taken a bit of a hiatus.  Some things have happened in my life that made me stop and think about numerous things. During this time I have been very private and quite frankly have not wanted to share anything with anyone.

I will be working on a new series of posts over the Christmas Break that I hope to launch on January 1st.

Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year, may your dream and goals come true in 2012.

Do not waste you time on Earth

image

Today was a sad day in our family. Our cousin was tragically killed in a work accident. He leaves behind a great family. He has a son 5 years old and a daughter 1 year. He was a hard working young man that did not drink or smoke. In fact he had recently attended a marriage retreat with his wife, which to me is a testament to his dedication to family.

He was 31 years old and worked at a company in Freeport, Texas that repairs boats and barges.  You can read the story here: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/42392765/ns/local_news-houston_tx/

We will miss you Jesus Gonzalez.

Now normally I admit that you would not associate headlights and beer together, but…

Mama drives this 2003 Nissan Altima. Her headlight went out so I went to the auto parts store to buy one. I was informed that they did not have the HID headlights in stock but they would have it for me the next day. I got ready to pay and wham! $100 for a headlight which is pictured below.

That is the first reason that I am associating beer and headlights.

Then I get the headlight and start to change it. Simple ten minute procedure, right? Not today!

I removed a few screws and noticed that the headlight would not come out! Argh! I went to eHow and found out that someone had already written an article on it.

So an hour later I have the entire bumper off of the car! What the DEUTSCHLAND HORN STEINheck! Where is the beer! There is a screw for the headlight behind the bumper. One screw. So my 10 minute headlight change took 2 hours!

With that I am going to segue into a product to hold aforementioned beer.  One of my advertisers has a great site for beer steins called http://www.1001beersteins.com/.

They have a great selection of beautiful steins.  My favorite from their site is this one. It is very medieval.  These are fantastic steins that are wonderfully crafted.  They have everything from Betty Boop beer glasses to the $500 Castle Stein which holds 5L of beer, perfect for your super bowl party!

Right now the budget does not allow to buy one of these steins but once I go to work again that would be a great item to have around!

Peaceful Journey and 8 Seconds

DSC_0013

This morning I attended a funeral for a 8 year old Scout. Alex Vasquez. I did not know Alex, but a friend of mine that runs another Cub Scout pack did. Fifty Scouts and leaders were at the funeral. It was very sad indeed. He had contracted brain cancer six months ago. The disease took him quickly. At the memorial service some great music was played and wonderful stories told. He was a great little boy that lived his short life to the fullest. He touched many people and taught them more about God and love in his eight short years than some learn in forty. The experience will not quickly be forgotten by those in attendance. Young Alex had a peaceful journey here on earth.

DSC_0012With that I segue into Stickman and Pork Chop. They both entered the school district Rodeo Art competition this year and they both made it to the district finals! Neither of them made it to the actual Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo but they both did great! Stickman’s art “Eight Seconds” shown to the right was a finalist. He did a great job on it!

Pork Chop’s work won first place but did not advance. It was very nice for a first grader. DSC_0011 It was appropriate for this post because of the title of the work was “Peaceful Journey”. Those of you who know Pork Chop know that he is anything but Peaceful. He is a rambunctious little boy who is full of energy! He is constantly in “trouble” but that is OK. He is just all boy!

Now on to the controversy! I will admit when I look at our son’s art I am a bit biased. Everything they do is wonderful to me. But the winners that beat our Stickman’ art I would have to say that I DSC_0019would not have chosen over his. The cow on the left was chosen over Stickman’s awesome bull. What do you think? Comment on this post and let me know which you would have chosen : )

Be honest, I want to see if I am being totally biased and blinded by parenthood.
